Final Blog Assignment

I think that I have learned so much this semester. I came in this class computer illiterate. I knew the basic things like surfing the Internet and typing a paper in word. This class open a whole new world for me. I learned about igoogle and all its gadgets. This blog is also a eye opener itself. Making a web page has been such an accomplishments for me. There have been so many things that I have learned in this class I can't name it all. I appreciate Dr. Strange and Mrs. G for taking time out to teach me all these different things. I am better prepared because of what I learned in this class.

The Best Education Blog 2007

The blog is basicly about education. It contains a blog about parents being more invovled and a blog about time being very important in education. This blog is about improveing education.
I think teachers and parents might find this blog useful, they might learn from it. One comment this writer made that I thought was interesting was, "One of the few constants we have in education is time-and how we choose to use that time has a profound effect on both the indiviual and the country in we live". This is a true fact because the time we spend on getting a education can benefit the indiviual and the country we live in. I think this is a useful article and it should win the best blog of the year because it focus on improvement for education. The title of the blog was "matthewtabor.com education for the aughts"http://www.matthewktabors.com

Wikipedia

I think Wikipedia will be a credible source of information in the far future. The free use of users to be able to edit or delete information has been rampant and frequent for a long time. This website that poses itself as a credible source of information is using, to its best ability, free speech and free use.

The hope of finding editors by their IP addresses and other decodable manors is giving those of us who want to find 'facts' a chance to actually do so. However, I feel that it will be a long time before Wikipedia, if ever, becomes a good source of information. I do like that the government is using the talents of up and coming computer graduates to find the changers of this information because it has proven and is still proving to be a source of problems for companies, people, and other areas of interest who have to continue to fight the incorrect information these users are providing to the public.

Duke University iPod Usage

Duke University, during the 2005-2006 school year, initiated the use of iPods in conjunction with classroom lectures. The program had the goal and idea that the use of this type of technology would increase the ease of passing on information to the students and increase the ease of teacher-student feedback and communication. The program consisted of approximately 630 students in a broad range of classes.
The pilot program helped to increase the usage of audio files (lectures, music downloads, etc.) and lessened the use of physical information usually provided during class meetings. However, some of the negatives was the fact that some information wasn't able to be provided or easily accessed by students. Overall, however, with a few corrections, the program will eventually be fully implemented for school-wide usage.
I think that the type of technology iPods provide can be a great asset in the classroom. Students can listen to actual songs or radio clips to give better understanding of a lecture or see video files that facilitate better understanding. In my future classroom, that's how I would use iPods.

Comments on the Article

I think what the author of the article is saying is true I don't like it. Don't get me wrong I love the Internet, but I think you must learn the basic stuff first. For example, the first book I read in school was Buffy and Mack and I loved it. We must teach from books and newspaper so children can appreciated to Internet and their myspace page. I don't know I could be wrong but that what I think.

This program can be a good for the state of Alabama.

Using "ALEX" in the Classroom

I want to teach high school history. I might you "ALEX" by using some lessons plans that on there. I might use the personal workspace to make lesson plans or communicate with other teachers by email.
I can also use ALEX to show parent what the state requirements and the things their children are learning. ALEX contains good information this is something I might implentment in my classroom when I start teaching.

ALEX

ALEX stand for Alabama Learning Exchange. Alex is a good resource for teachers. It has a many different section, like lesson plans, distance learning, professial learning, personal workspace, and different web link.
All these section have great information. For instance, professinal deveolpment section contains infomation about deveolpment opportunites, and the latestlearning tools. Alex can help teacher to make teaching better.

I am a real down to earth person who speak her mind when asked. I am a Surgical Tech but I am not happy with my profession any more, that why I am going back to school.
I have always had a passion for history so I decide that I wanted to teach high school history. In my down time I liked to watch movies.
